If you have a.Mac account, you can also automatically back up to your iDisk. All you need to do is turn on automatic reconciliation. In Quicken’s preferences, open the Auto-Reconcile pane. Thus the name, 'Quicken Essentials for Mac.' Evidently, 80% of Quicken users simply use it like I do for keeping track of accounts, connecting to one's bank for cleared transactions and the like.
Updated September 16, 2018 When you, you get a transaction register where you can automatically or manually enter actions that affect the balance in your account, such as purchases and payments. You have the option of changing your account register preferences in to better meet your needs. For instance, you may want to automatically place the decimal point in a certain spot, fade out reconciled transactions, show dates before check numbers, or even change the fonts and colors used. Some of the options available for customizing your account preferences in Quicken for Windows 2016, 2017, and 2018 appear below. In order to make any of these changes, choose the Edit menu in Quicken. Next, click Register in the left pane.
You can then make your changes in the right pane and click OK to save those changes. Note: Some of these options don't work for investment accounts, since investment transaction lists don't work the same way as regular account registers.
As noted above, there is a crude work-around for the reconciliation report. As for the missing fees, you can add your VOTE for the feature to Add ability to add service charge or interest during reconcile, here: First, click on the link above to go there, then click VOTE at the top of THAT page, so your will vote count for THIS feature and increase its visibility to the developers.
Be sure to also scroll down the page, and check out a link to a list of related features for the Reconciliation Process. (If you find this reply helpful, please be sure to click 'Like', so others will know, thanks.).
I also highly recommend that you browse through the IDEAS section of this forum and VOTE for the request of each of the missing features to be added back into Quicken for Mac.to help direct the priorities of the developers. To do that, I suggest you read this FAQ on how to filter the IDEAS to just show the ones for the Mac version, then VOTE to your heart's content: The following are some of the many feature requests you will find:. Budget features. many requests for configuration options and many others.
Be sure to scroll down each page, as some contain lists of related features. Click on the link to EACH IDEA separately that you are interested in, then click the VOTE button at the top of EACH page that opens up respectively to increase the count and therefore its visibility to the developers. If you do not click VOTE at the top of the page of each feature, your vote will NOT be counted for THAT specific feature! (If you find this reply helpful, please be sure to click 'Like', so others will know, thanks.). This report is a break down of details on the reconciliation you just completed like an financial report that lists assets and liabilities. It begins with the starting balance and shows total cleared items (both credits and debits) and then lists each outstanding (again both credits and debits) and ending balance. This is produced in QM2007 at the end of the reconciliation; a window pops up and asks if you want to generate this report and either you do or you don't and it is not a saved event in history.
This print out would be very helpful to have given the issues experienced of prior reconciliations after upgrades. Shoot, it's a feature that should be available period or Quicken would of never created in back then. You have to think of it like a worksheet that reports the detail of the recon. I used to have to fill one out manually back then each time I completed a recon at work.

You can just attach it to your bank statement when your done. THIS IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN THE RECONCILIATION HISTORY FUNCTION THAT SHOWS A RECON WAS COMPLETED AND BALANCED WITH THE ABILITY TO RE-RECONCILE. If you find that QM2017 does not meet your needs, the alternative is to run Quicken for Windows in a virtual machine on your Mac.
There are 5 popular products you can use: Parallels, VMWare Fusion, Oracle VirtualBox, Bootcamp or CrossOver. The first 4 require you to also buy a copy of Windows.
The first 2 cost $50-80, the third and forth are free. CrossOver also costs about $50-$80 but does NOT require you to buy Windows. If you plan to keep your PC & Mac, you could also run Quicken on the PC and use remote access (several free options, e.g. NoMachine and Teamviewer) to access Quicken from your Mac (or even a tablet or phone) (see this great article for complete review of many options (most are free): ).
